Greenspiration Products

Greenspiration products are individually handmade. Each piece of paper is created in a mould and deckle, couched in cloth, pressed by hand and dried by steam or sunlight. Intricate designs of pressed flowers, leaves, bark and other plant material are then rendered by skilled and dedicated artisans to produce an exquisite line of handmade paper products.

About Us

The verdant plains of northern Mindanao at the heart of southeast Asia are fertile grounds for the renaissance of handmade paper. The lush flora, cradled by abundant sunshine in moderate tropical climate, are harnessed by our artisans to produce handmade paper.

This wonder product is more than a means of livelihood. Handmade paper is also a vehicle for artistic and cultural expression, and a valuable vehicle for conservation and optimum use of indigenous resources.

Our handmade paper is tree-free and acid-free. It uses natural fibers from abaca (Musa textilis), wild cogon grass (Imperata cylindrica exaltata) and salago bark (Wikstroemia lanceolata). These base materials are also blended with fibers from pineapple, sugar cane, banana, coconut by-products and other plant material to achieve variations in texture and color. We put to good use a host of natural tree waste such as bark and skeletonized leaves, and use the most natural of bleaching agents—oxygen and sunlight. The various colors in our handmade paper come from plant-based water-soluble dyes. Many of the flowers and leaves used in the floral designs on our handmade paper grow in the wild and are known only by their indigenous common names.

All of these handmade paper products represent a humble yet vital effort towards building empowered communities while instilling environmental conservation values. By broadening local farmers’ enterprises through new product development such as handmade paper, the optimum use of indigenous resources as well as the quest for marketing networks and global partners, Greenspiration is also charting a proactive response to the challenges of the global economy.
